MI ANNOUNCEMENTS (URGENT & IMPT!):
1. New notes, reading material, and other announcements have been posted on the KM, please check.
2. The 800-1200 word MI Assignment due on Wednesday 19th April has also been posted on KM.
3. Please prepare some materials (newspapers, magazines, etc.) for tomorrow's MI tutorial, it'll be on Reasoning and Informal Fallacies: A Fallacy is an error in reasoning.
a. Fallacies of Relevance
b. Fallacies of Presumption
c. Fallacies of Ambiguity
4. Graded Assignment 2 - Choose 1 Informal Fallacy. Present it in a manner which makes clear your full understanding. Give examples. First draft to be handed in TOMORROW! Please remember to bring to discuss in your groups and also bring material to put it together (look above). We will work in groups later.

"You guys are so predictable. Once I say that a GRADE will be given, the type which counts in your GPA Score, people get wierd and message me strange requests. You guys need perspective.

May I please repeat: DO NOT MESSAGE ME unless loss of life and limb are involved (esp on a weekend), or unless you want to tell me I'm such a wonderful human being.

If you are an MI Rep, then you can message me for anything, any time, because you guys are indispensible to me.

It's not about the marks!!!! But if you really so not have a life, Here's The Deal:

1. I have attached some examples of Informal Fallacies.
2. I have attached last year's not very good lecture on Informal Fallacies.
3. To get a good grade, your Power Point has to be better than the one I used last year. Use your imagination and creativity. Use lots of cartoons, pictures or whatever will leave a lasting mark on us who listen. It must be clear and comprehensible.

For this coming week, you have to come to class with your first draft of ONE Informal Fallacy.
You also have to have some magazines, speeches, a lap-top would be great.
Look for two other people who have done different IF. Form a group of 3.
Show them what you have done and explain to them what you understand by the Fallacy. Improve on your first draft. Share ideas on how to put together an effective PP Presentation of your chosen 3 IF, with illustrations from real life to show how these fallacies occur in real life.

4. I have also attached last year's lecture on what an argument is to give you an idea of what is expected in your essay.

Try to enjoy yourselves.

I will actually be able to make most of the classes except the Friday ones, I think." (Excerpted from Mrs Tan. KM. Heading: You Very Strange People. The first one on the news list if you cant find it.) Rmb when in doubt dont just GOOGLE-it, KM-it. Check attachments and document library as well. Very useful. Word limit: When you feel it's enough and deserves the 15 marks (which will be quite unlikely so 12 will do ^^).

5. Your grouping for the "Language and Thought" assignment this term will be given in time to come. (check back soon.)
6. IT'LL ALWAYS BE HIGHLY USEFUL TO CHECK THE KM FROM TIME TO TIME SO PLEASE DO. IF YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING, PLEASE DON'T LET THE FIRST THING YOU DO BE TO SPAM MY PHONE OR NUDGE ME ON MSN. NOTHING BEATS STUFF AS HARD AS GOOGLE. EXCEPT FOR MAYBE KM. THE NOTES THERE WILL ACTUALLY BE VERY USEFUL IF YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THEM. THANK YOU. ^^
